Graveside services for Marvin E. Smith of Waldo, Ark., are 10a.m., Thursday, Aug. 2, at Pleasant Grove Baptist ChurchCemetery.

Visitation is today from 5-8 p.m. at Harrigill Funeral Home.

Mr. Smith, 80, died July 31, 2001, at Magnolia City Hospital inMagnolia, Ark. He was born in Brookhaven on May 31, 1921, to Joe B.Smith and Eunice Porter Smith.

He was a retired boiler maker. He was a member of Pleasant GroveBaptist Church. He was an Army veteran of WWII, serving with the7th Signal Co., 7th Infantry Division. He was awarded the BronzeStar.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and his brothers,Holmes L. Smith and Oscar O. Smith.

Survivors are his wife, Avis Smith of Waldo, Ark.; his son, FredWayne Smith of Holden, La.; his daughter, Janice Jo Richard ofBaton Rouge; his stepdaughter, Sherry Hart of Waldo, Ark.; hisbrother, Dan Paul Smith of Brookhaven; his sisters, Sarah Freemanand Lucille Smith, both of Brookhaven, and Eva Davis of Waverly;and five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
