PEARL – The Pearl Lady Pirates handed Brookhaven’s Lady Panthersa narrow 13-12 loss Tuesday in a slowpitch softball offensive show,scoring the winning run in the bottom of the eighth inning.Brookhaven finished with 22 hits but fell short of a victory.

Coach Lisa Covington’s Lady Panthers (0-1) resume play Thursday,hosting West Lincoln. Junior varsity action starts at 6, followedby the varsity at 7.

A double and 2 singles by Samantha Boutwell directedBrookhaven’s attack. Devine Porter doubled twice. Ginny Dunaway andCortney Fielder each hit 3 singles.

Providing a double and a single for the Lady Panthers wereLizzie Wilson and Chuvaqua Smith. Chiquita Rancifer and losingpitcher Mandy Vinson singled twice. Shemeka Gilmore, Ashley Sykesand Megan Bateman also hit safely.
