Former city alderman Pepper dies

Services for former Brookhaven Alderman Danny Sam Pepper Sr. are2 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 26, 2001, at Brookhaven Funeral HomeChapel.
Visitation is Saturday from 5-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Pepper, 52, died Aug. 23, 2001, at Lawrence County Hospitalof heart failure. He was born in Adams County on Jan. 8, 1949.
Mr. Pepper was Ward 6 Alderman from July 1989 to May 1995.
He was a member of the Brookhaven Police Department from1979-1985. In 1989, Pepper went to work with the Lincoln CountySheriff’s Department, and he was with that department until 1993,when he went to work for a logging company with his son DannyJr.
Mr. Pepper was most recently a truck driver.
Preceding him in death was his father, Powell Pepper.
Survivors are his mother, Helen Cagle of Jackson; hisstepfather, Luke Cagle of Jackson; his sons, Danny Sam Pepper Jr.and Paul Wilson Pepper, both of Brookhaven; his brother, MelvinPepper of Lake City, Fla.; his sisters, Carol Bacot of Summit andDebbie Brown of Raceland, La.; and his grandchildren, Daniel andCourtney Pepper.
