North PIke girls handLady ‘Cats first loss

SUMMIT – The North Pike Lady Jaguars posted a tough 7-4slowpitch softball win over the Bogue Chitto Lady Bobcats Tuesdaynight. It was the Lady Bobcats first loss of the season.

Bogue Chitto (9-1, 6-0) led North Pike 2-1 in the top of thethird inning. The Lady Jags came back to outscore the Lady Bobcats6-2 in the final 3 1/2 innings for the win.

The Lady Bobcats committed six errors compared to one for theLady Jags. Both teams had seven hits.

Mattie Alexander paced North Pike with two singles. Singlingwere Heather Alexander, Erin Boyd, Brittney Alexander, HeatherWilliamson and Melissa McKenzie. Kayle Price was the winningpitcher.

“North Pike was able to capitalize on our defensive errors,”said Bogue Chitto head coach Adrianne Albritton.

For Bogue Chitto, Randi Moak led with a double and a single. KiaPorter, the losing pitcher, singled twice. Meleah Brown, AmandaWallace and Amber Maldonado singled.

Bogue Chitto hosts Brookhaven Thursday night, beginning at 6p.m. with the junior varsity, followed by the varsity at 7.
