Two receive jail time in court action

Two men received jail time and another is awaiting sentencingMonday following last week’s activity in Lincoln County CircuitCourt.
Harvey Bridges, 26, of 1025 Ilean Lane, Hazlehurst, wassentenced to 25 years in prison and to make full restitution afterpleading guilty to an armed robbery charge in connection with aDec. 14 carjacking at a Brookhaven business. With a prior criminalrecord, he was sentenced as an habitual criminal, meaning he mustserve every day of the sentence, court officials said.
In trial-related activity, William O. Johnson, 37, of 227 SouthWashington St., received a total five-year sentence after beingconvicted of burglary and other charges last week. He had faced amaximum of 50 years in prison.
Johnson was found guilty of conspiracy, one count of burglaryand four counts of accessory after the fact of burglary. He hadfaced a total of five counts of burglary related to break-ins atseveral county homes last December.
Judge Keith Starrett sentenced Johnson to five years on eachcount of the conspiracy and accessory charges and 10 years on theburglary charge, with all sentences running concurrently. Johnsonwas to serve the first five years with the last five on postrelease supervision and was ordered to make full restitution to allvictims of the crimes.
Also last week, a jury was able to find a Brookhaven man guiltyof possession of cocaine with intent to distribute but was unableto reach verdicts on two charges of unlawful sale of cocaine.
Paul Lyons, 21, of 100 Fred Walley Dr., was to be sentencedMonday on the possession charge. With two prior felony convictions,which would make him an habitual criminal, he faces a maximum of 30years in prison and a $1 million fine.
A jury deliberated several hours Thursday before reaching theguilty verdict on the possession charge and declaring themselvesdeadlocked on the sale charges. Prosecutors are considering theiroptions regarding the sale charges.
