Services for Mary Ross Bentz of Brookhaven are 10:30 a.m.,Saturday, Oct. 6, at Brookhaven Funeral Home Chapel with burial inRose Hill Cemetery.

Visitation is Friday from 6-9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Bentz, 94, died Oct. 2, 2001, at King’s Daughters MedicalCenter. She was born in Lincoln County on Jan. 3, 1907, to MarcusL. Ross and Mary Oliver Ross.

She was a homemaker. She was a member of First Baptist Church,where she had served as secretary to the Junior Sunday SchoolClass. She was a former member of Peripatetics, WMU, and SewingCircle.

Preceding her in death were her parents; and her husband, AlvinBentz.

Survivors are her son, Alvin William Bentz of Houston, Texas;her daughter, Helen Bentz East of Brookhaven; her brother, Dr.Lamar Ross of Waco, Texas; her grandchildren, Martha East Morgan ofBrookhaven, James Thomas East of Sugarland, Texas, Richard HowellEast of Nashville, Tenn., and David Bentz, Don Bentz, and AndrewBentz, all of Austin, Texas; and four great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or toFirst Baptist Church Choir.
