Services for Thelma A. (Ms. Honey) Smith of Brookhaven are 2p.m., Saturday, Oct. 6, at St. James M.B. Church with burial inCarver Heights Cemetery.
Visitation is Friday from noon through the wake service from 7-8p.m. at Tyler Funeral Home.
Mrs. Smith, 80, died Oct. 1, 2001, at King’s Daughters MedicalCenter. She was born in Lincoln County on June 3, 1921, toSylvester Wilson and Elizabeth Louise Smith Wilson.
She worked in the family grocery store for a number of years.She was a member of St. James M.B. Church, where she served on theMother Board and was president of Church Mission. She was a memberof the Elks Lodge, Eastern Star, Prayer Band, and Widows andOrphans Home.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her brothers, Jim,Essie, Lester, Willie, Willard, and Sylvester Wilson; and hersisters, Josie Jones, Daisy Perkins, and twin sisters who died atbirth.
Survivors are her husband, Fred H. Smith of Brookhaven; her son,Eddie Howard Smith of Chicago; her daughters, Gloria J. Smith ofChicago, Freddie Knight of Dallas, Texas, and Stella L. Hawkins andHelen Ramsey, both of Brookhaven; her sister, Sarah Louise Morrisof New York; and nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, anda host of nieces and nephews.
