Services for Linnie Lee Bates of Jayess are 1 p.m., Sunday, Oct.7, at New Hope M. B. Church with burial in Bates Cemetery inJayess.

Visitation is prior to the service Sunday at the church.

Mrs. Bates, 91, died Oct. 2, 2001, at Memorial Baptist Church inNew Orleans. She was born in Lawrence County on Feb. 15, 1910, toJimmie Stovall and Nancy Magee.

She was a homemaker. She was a member of New Hope M. B. Church,where she served on the Mother Board.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, HermanBates; her daughter, Ethel Wheeler; her brothers, A. B. Bullock, J.B. Bullock, J. C. Bullock, Biral Stovall, and Jonas Stovall; hersisters, Beulah J. Brown and Anne Lee Bullock; and onegrandchild.

Survivors are her sons, Fred Bates, James Bates, and JimmieBates, all of Jayess, and Gerald Bates of Prentiss; Hattie LeeGarner, Claudine White, Dorothy Nicks, Herman Lee Collins, and MaryManning, all of Jayess; and 43 grandchildren and a host of niecesand nephews.
