NATCHEZ – The West Lincoln Lady Bears edged Cathedral’s girls7-6 Monday in Division 7-1A action at Liberty Park. The Lady Bearsrallied in the top of the seventh to score three runs and post thevictory.

Hanna Roberts (20-8) was the winning pitcher, striking out 2batters and walking none. West Lincoln improved to 20-8 overall and8-2 in the division.

“We had a bus break down on us and we were late getting overthere,” said West Lincoln coach Andrew Redd. “That sort of set thetone for the game. We made some errors (four) but we stuck togetherand came back to win it.”

West Lincoln hosts North Pike Thursday at 5 p.m. and 6,concluding regular-season play. Runners-up in the division, WestLincoln will be at Puckett, Oct. 16, for a best-of-threeseries.

West Lincoln beat defending division champion Enterprise 8-2last Thursday to clinch second place.

At the plate, Dana King tripled and singled to lead WestLincoln. Christy Lindigrin doubled and singled. Contributing 2 hitswere Holli Bass, Jennifer Richardson, Chastity Avants and Roberts.Also hitting safely were Lyndsay Franklin, Britnee Smith and LaurenSmith.

Cathedral, which committed 5 errors, was led by Chelsi Smith whohad 3 singles. Jessica Barrett and Alex Roberts had 2 hits.
