Lady Cobras win division

WESSON – The Wesson Lady Cobras are the Division 6-2A slowpitchsoftball champions after whipping the St. Joseph Lady Bruins ofMadison 17-0 in three innings Tuesday night. St. Andrews finishedsecond in the division.

The Lady Cobras improved to 12-12 overall and finished 7-1 inthe division. The head coach for Wesson is Lane Young.

Wesson will host the first round of the state playoffs beginningTuesday, October 16, against Division 5-2A runner-upEnterprise-Clarke.

Shortstop Millie Smith hit two home runs and a single forWesson. Maggie Morgan drilled a homer, a double and a single. Alsohomering was Caron Brister. Brittany Smith collected a double and apair of singles. Ripping a double and a single was LaurenHutson.

Contributing to the Wesson win with two singles apiece werewinning pitcher Brittany King, Kail Baldwin, Maggie Johnson andKate Scoggin. Andrea Watson hit a double.

The Lady Cobras will entertain the Class 1A Enterprise LadyYellow Jackets Thursday for a varsity game only. Game time is 5p.m.
