Services for James Walter Thames of Summit are 2 p.m., Friday,Oct. 12, at Harrigill Funeral Home Chapel with burial in WessonCemetery.

Visitation is today from 4-9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Thames, 69, died Oct. 9, 2001, at SMRMC. He was born inLincoln County on March 29, 1932, to Dave J. Thames and Maggie BellKyzar Thames.

He was a petroleum engineer and drilling consultant for WalterOil & Gas. He was a member of the Baptist faith. He was aveteran of the Korean Conflict.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his son, Shon AndrewThames; and his sister, Virginia Lynn Thomas.

Survivors are his wife, Maxine White Thames of Summit; his sons,Jeff Thames of Brookhaven, James W. Thames Jr. of Orange, Texas,Charles O. Thames of Mooresville, N.C., and Keith E. Marsh ofJoshua Tree, Calif.; his daughters, Gloria “Sister” Ervin of Sontagand Sharon Ann Thomas of Orange, Texas; his brother, Richard Thamesof Ruth; and 20 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
