Services for Allie S. Smith of Brookhaven are 1 p.m., Saturday,Oct. 13, at New Prospect Baptist Church with burial in the churchcemetery.
Visitation is today from 4-8 p.m. at Harrigill Funeral Home.
Mrs. Smith, 97, died Oct. 11, 2001, of heart failure at SilverCross Nursing Home. She was born in Lincoln County on Nov. 2, 1903,to Sidney Smith and Ophelia Wooten Smith.
She was a homemaker and gardener. She had been a school teacherand had been employed at Stahl-Urban. She was a lifelong member ofNew Prospect Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher,a member of WMU, and served in various other positions.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her brothers, Ira andMaxie Smith; her sister, Lou Myrtie Smith; her son, Robert VernonSmith Sr., and her great-grandson, William Terrell Smith Jr.
Survivors are her son and daughter-in-law, Willie Terrell andSue M. Smith of Brookhaven; her grandchildren, Catherine S. McNeaceof Atlanta, William T. Smith and David M. Smith, both ofBrookhaven, Richard S. Smith of Bogue Chitto, Deanna S. Henry,Robert Vernon and Debra Smith of Wasilla, Alaska; and eightgreat-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchildren.
