Services for Charles Henry Smith Sr. of Brookhaven are 1 p.m.Monday, Oct. 29, at Macedonia Baptist Church with gravesideservices later at the church cemetery.
Visitation is Monday, Oct. 29, beginning at 11:30 a.m. at thechurch.
Mr. Smith, 74, died Thursday, Oct. 25, 2001, in Pensacola, Fla.He was born in Brookhaven on Aug. 17, 1927, to the late John ButlerSr. and Wessie Catherine Smith Smith.
He was a retired senior drilling foreman for Standard Oil ofOhio. He also worked for various production companies throughoutthe United States. He was a lifelong member of Macedonia BaptistChurch.
Preceding him in death were his parents and his grandson,Gregory Charles Smith.
Survivors are his wife, Judith Smith; son, Charles “Charlie” H.Smith Jr. of Pearl; daughters and sons-in-law, Margaret and Gene”Moochie” Britt of Brookhaven, Kathy and Trent King of Brandon andShelia Nell and Greg George of Casper, Wyo.; stepdaughters, PaulaGodus, Carole Gentry and Yvette Brooks; brothers, Larry D. Smithand John Butler Smith Jr. of Brookhaven, Carroll P. Smith ofHouston, Texas, and Mike Smith of College Station, Texas; sisters,Valerie Hill of Natchez, Veta Covington of Union Church and BonitaBullock of Brookhaven; seven grandchildren; and twogreat-grandchildren.
