Services for Mary Helen Alexander of Brookhaven are 10:30 a.m.Monday, Nov. 5, at Brookhaven Funeral Home Chapel with burial inRiverwood Memorial Park.

Visitation is Sunday, Nov. 4, from 2-4 p.m. at the funeralhome.

Mrs. Alexander, 80, died Friday, Nov. 2, 2001, at King’sDaughters Medical Center. She was born in Hartwell, Ga., on April29, 1921, the youngest child of the late Lonard and MaudeVickery.

She grew up in Anderson, S.C., and graduated from Girls’ HighSchool. She attended the University of Mississippi and married JohnD. Alexander on Nov. 17, 1940. Her husband was called to theministry and they were both active in church communities in SouthCarolina, Georgia and Mississippi.

Mrs. Alexander and her husband did extensive work with theSouthern Baptist Foreign Mission Board in South America, Africa,England, Spain, Italy and Hawaii.

After retirement, she worked tirelessly to establish and buildEmmanuel Baptist Church in Rock Springs, Wyo., and College HeightsBaptist Church in Casper, Wyo.

Survivors are her husband; sons and daughters-in-law, John andGinny Alexander of Tucson, Ariz., and Bobby Joe and Deena Alexanderof Madison; and grandchildren, Kimberly Leigh Alexander ofRidgeland and Bobby Joe Alexander Jr. of Mendenhall.

The funeral service will be conducted by Dr. Perry C. Perkins,the Rev. Guy Henderson and the Rev. Willy Ried. Pallbearers areRufus Nobel, John Curry, Buddy Russell, J.B. Leonard, Archie Whiteand Joe Burns.
