St. Al sinks West Lincoln

VICKSBURG – A big 35-point, second quarter explosion by St.Aloysius was all the host Flashes needed to best the winless WestLincoln Bears 35-14 Friday night in Region 4-1A footballaction.

West Lincoln (0-10, 0-8) took a 7-0 lead in the first quarter ona 10-yard run by junior tailback Stacey Fells and a PAT kick byJacob Martin.

In the second quarter, St. Aloysius roared back with 35 pointsto go ahead 35-7 at halftime.

West Lincoln sophomore quarterback Blake Adams connected toRichard Green for a seven-yard touchdown in the final frame. Martinkicked his second extra point to cut the St. Aloysius lead to35-14.

Fells was the leading rusher with 65 yards for the Bears.Rushing for 35 yards was Cody Mitchell. Alan Skates collected 16yards.

Adams was 2 for 4 for 41 yards passing for the Bears. Catchingone pass for 34 yards was Clint Smith.

Defensively, Fells sparked West Lincoln with eight tackles.Making six stops was Casey Roberts. Jake Laird collected fivetackles. Clint Smith intercepted a pass and Green recovered afumble.

The Bears were penalized seven times for 80 yards.

West Lincoln, coached by Roe Burns, entertains region champ MizeFriday. Kickoff begins at 7:30 p.m.
