Lady Wolves roar past Holmes 80-70

GOODMAN – Freshman guard Tiania Burns pumped in 22 points tospark the Co-Lin Lady Wolves to an 80-70 win over the Holmes LadyBulldogs Thursday night. Burns also collected six rebounds, madefive steals and had three assists.

In the men’s game, a 20 point and 12 rebound performance bysophomore forward B.J. Black was not enough as the Wolves fell tothe Bulldogs 67-56.

In the women’s game, Co-Lin led 45-40 over Holmes at thehalf.

“It was a good win,” said Co-Lin women’s head coach Gwyn Young.”We made a lot of mistakes coming off of turnovers. We are lookingforward to the game against Coahoma Monday night.

Contributing to the Co-Lin win with 19 points and 15 reboundswas sophomore forward Christy Brown. Following with 15 points, 13rebounds and two blocked shots was sophomore forward MindyLivaudais.

Stacy Gary got 14 points for Holmes. Netting 13 points wasMelissa Winters.

In the men’s game, both teams were tied at 25-all before Holmespulled out the win over Co-Lin in the second half.

The Wolves, coached by Dennis Sims, got support from sophomoreguard Bruce Smith with 15 points and four assists. Scoring 11points was freshman guard Jason Scott.

Jerry Oliver’s 20 points and 10 rebounds directed Holmes. B.J.Townsend added 15 points.
