Illegal dumping charges will most likely not be filed against aBogue Chitto man who was accused of dropping several tons ofundeliverable mail along Bracey Trail, officials said.

When deputies continued with their investigation Thursdaymorning, they discovered the man had cleaned up the site lateWednesday evening or early Thursday morning.

“We probably won’t charge him since he’s already taken care ofit,” said Sheriff Lynn Boyte. “It will depend on how well hecleaned the site.”

The sheriff said the post office was not at fault. Theycontracted out the disposal and thought it had been handledappropriately.

“It just wasn’t carried through properly,” Boyte said.

The dumping was of mail that was considered undeliverable bypostal authorities, he said.
