W. Lincoln whips North Pike

SUMMIT – Luke Lofton fired in a game-high 28 points and grabbed15 rebounds to power the West Lincoln Bears to a 68-46 win over theNorth Pike Jaguars Friday night. Lofton, a junior forward, hit five3-pointers, made four steals and had five assists for the 3-3Bears.

In girls’ action, junior guard Dana King exploded for 36 pointsand seven rebounds in leading the Lady Bears to a 70-60 victoryover the Lady Jags. King collected five 3-pointers.

The North Pike junior varsity girls nipped West Lincoln34-33.

The West Lincoln boys jumped on North Pike for a 19-6first-quarter lead. At halftime, the Bears pushed their edge to36-13 over the Jags.

“We shot the ball well and played good defense,” said WestLincoln head coach Andrew Smithie.

Adding support to the Bears win with 19 points (including 3three-pointers) was Codi Mitchell. Sam Collins grabbed sevenrebounds.

The top scorer for the Jags was Glover Quin with 21 points.

In the girls matchup, the game was close for threequarters until a 21-15 run gave the Lady Bears thewin.

Lauren Smith helped West Lincoln with 11 points and 11rebounds. Hannah Roberts scored six points. Hannah Johnson pulleddown six rebounds.

Directing North Pike with 15 points was LaQuinta Ard.Britta Stephens netted 12 points followed by Brittany Carr with 11points.

JV Girls Game

Powering the West Lincoln girls in the loss was AliciaKennedy with 11 points and 12 rebounds. Lyndsay Franklin netted 10points.

North Pike got eight points apiece from Kim Matthews andTenesia.

West Lincoln resumes basketball play following theThanksgiving holidays on Tuesday, Nov. 27, hosting Cathedral. TheJV boys begin play at 5 p.m. followed by two varsitygames.
