MENDENHALL -Jimmy Latham pumped in 20 points and the BrookhavenAcademy boys roared to a 71-58 Tuesday night victory over SimpsonCounty Academy in a battle of Cougars. In the varsity girls game,Ancy Myers and Anna Gatlin each scored 14 points in Brookhaven’s63-16 smashing of Simpson.

Brookhaven Academy resumes play Thursday night at Adams CountyChristian School.

The BA Cougars (3-1) got 19 points and 10 rebounds fromPaul Coker. Alex Davis grabbed 7 rebounds as Brookhaven took a34-28 halftime lead.

Simpson got 20 points from Neal Stephens.

The Lady Cougars (7-0) got 8 rebounds from Myers .Lauren Smith and Mallory Logan made 3 assists as Brookhaven forgeda 28-10 halftime lead. Anna King collected 4 rebounds.

“It was our best game of the year so far on both ends of thecourt,” said Brookhaven Academy girls coach Barry Gray.

Simpson was led by Joanna Gaston’s 6 points.

Junior High Action

Brookhaven’s girls edged Simpson 32-31 in junior highbasketball action last night, led by Emily Langley’s 10 points.Michelle Thibodeaux chipped in 8 points , Kaci Williams 6 andAllyson Pickett 4. Maegan Calhoun grabbed 5 rebounds.

Simpson got 9 points from Malory McNulty, 7 from JessieAnderson and 6 apiece from Casie Hilton and JamieHilton.
