FAYETTE – Brittany Peyton fired in 19 points to direct theLawrence County Lady Cougars to a 56-51 Division 7-3A win Tuesdaynight over the Jefferson County Lady Tigers. Peyton also grabbedfour rebounds.

Lawrence County (4-6) led 12-10 over Jefferson County at the endof the first quarter and went up by five points 34-29 at the half.In the second half, both teams scored 34 points apiece as the LadyCougars escaped with the win.

Coached by Archie Ross, the Lawrence County girls got 14 pointsand two rebounds from Isah Toney. Stacey Smith netted 13 points and11 rebounds. Collecting eight rebounds was Jasmine Lewis.

Travalyn Smith led Jefferson County with 17 points.
