WESSON – Luke Lofton’s 23 points directed the West Lincoln Bearsto a 75-58 win over the Wesson Cobras in Tuesday night varsity boysbasketball action. The Bears had four players in doublefigures.

In the girls game, Dana King powered the Lady Bears to a 63-25victory over the Lady Cobras with 17 points, including three3-pointers.

The Bears (7-4), coached by Andy Smithie, led the Cobras25-14 after the first quarter and 35-21 at the half.

Adding support to the West Lincoln win with 18 pointswas Sam Collins. Netting 16 points was Cody Mitchell. Tyler Smithscored 12 points. From three-point range, Mitchell led with threefollowed by Lofton and Smith with two apiece and Brooks Smith withone.

Wesson, coached by Billy O. Britt, was led by RoderickClay with a game-high 27 points. Richie Miller followed with 14points.

The West Lincoln girls (9-2) trailed Wesson 5-4 afterthe first quarter. Some three-pointers and perfect 14-for-14 freethrow shooting put the Lady Bears back in control and paced theeventual win.

Adding support to the Lady Bears win was Hanna Robertswith 15 points, including three 3-pointers. Hannah Johnson netted12 points.

Wesson, coached by Scott Johnson, was led by Hayley Carrwith eight points. Kail Baldwin pulled down fiverebounds.

In Friday night’s girls game, Wesson fell 42-36 to St.Joseph. Baldwin led the Lady Cobras with 15 points. Kale Holdernetted 19 points for St. Joe.

Junior high games

The West Lincoln boys (4-3) nipped Wesson 28-26. MasonWarren led Wesson with 12 points. Top scorer for West Lincoln wasShane Lynch with 21 points.

In girls action, Wesson (3-4) stopped West Lincoln for a25-23 victory in overtime. Christy Watson’s 18 points directed theLady Cobras.

Scoring 10 points apiece for the Lady Bears were AprilKennedy and Erica Shaw.

Wesson entertains Division 6-2A foe St. Andrew’sThursday night for three games. West Lincoln hosts EnterpriseFriday night for two Division 7-1A games.
