Services for Andrew “Andy” Joseph Roper of Smithdale are 11a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 19, at Mt. Gilead Primitive Baptist Church inSmithdale with burial in the church cemetery.

Visitation is today from 5:30-9 p.m. and Wednesday from 8 a.m.until service time at the church. Catchings Funeral Home is incharge of arrangements.

Mr. Roper, 31, died Dec. 16, 2001, at his residence. He was bornin Slidell, La., on Jan. 23, 1970, to Joseph L. Roper and MarjorieSpring Roper of Smithdale.

He was a former electrician for Macon Power in Macon, Ga. He wasa 1988 graduate of Parklane Academy. He was an avid outdoorsman wholoved to fish and hunt.

Preceding him in death were his grandparents, I. M. and IsabellaVath Roper.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his brothers,Thomas Charles Roper of Whitehall, Pa., and Marc Allen Roper ofSmithdale; his sister, Mary Ann Roper of Summit; his grandparents,William Spring and Eloweese Jones Spring of Smithdale; and numerousaunts, uncles, cousins, and other relatives and friends inMississippi, Georgia, and South Carolina.
