Graveside services for Howard Eugene Sykes of Great Falls,Mont., are 1 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 29, at Union Baptist Church.

Mr. Sykes, 59, died Dec. 18, 2001, at Great Falls Hospital ofheart failure following surgery. He was born in Brookhaven on Nov.16, 1942, to Horace Sykes and Gussie Marie Watts Sykes Thomas.

He was a retired Army sergeant.

Preceding him in death were his mother and father; hisstepfather, Willie Thomas Sr.; and his brothers, Wayne Sykes, FredSykes, Roy Thomas and Ray Watts.

Survivors are his son, Billy Haley of Vidalia, La.; hisdaughters, Eugena Sykes of Sulpher Springs, Texas, Alice Sykes ofBismarck, N. D., and Tonya Sykes of Great Falls, Mont.; hisbrothers, Jessie Watts of Byram, Charles Thomas of Brookhaven,Willie Thomas Jr. of Summit, Harold Thomas of Jayess, and DannyThomas of Brookhaven; his sisters, Nancy Lambert and JaniceSanders, both of Brookhaven; and six grandchildren and many niecesand nephews.
