Last week’s tragic killing of a Prentiss police officer servesas another reminder of the dangers and risks that law enforcementpersonnel face each and every time they go into action.

Whether it’s stopping a motorist for a traffic citation or, asOfficer Ron Jones was doing, executing a search warrant during adrug raid, officers face the unknown in their pursuit of the publicgood.

Law enforcement officers, be they charged with enforcing city, county or state laws, need and deserve our respect and support.

They’re there to protect us from the dangers of the world. Andfor that, we owe them a heart-felt, “Thank You!”
