Services for Marie Thompson of Union Church will be held at alater date. Brookhaven Funeral Home is in charge ofarrangements.

Mrs. Thompson, 90, died Jan. 1, 2002, at her residence. She wasborn in Jefferson County on Oct. 26, 1911, to Charles Corban Carnesand Harriet Temperance Mullins Carnes.

She was a music educator, having retired in 1964 after 26years.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Leddrew”Sailor” H. Thompson Sr.; her sons, Thomas R. Shields and CharlesR. Shields; her brother, Charles E. Carnes; and her sister, MyrtleC. Rowan.

Survivors are her six grandchildren and several nieces andnephews.
