Services for Austin Kirby Lofton Sr. of Kentwood, La., were 2p.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, at McKneely Funeral Home in Kentwood withburial in Osyka Cemetery.

Mr. Lofton, 79, died Friday, Jan. 4, 2002, at North Oaks MedicalCenter in Hammond, La. He was born in Lincoln County to the lateNorris and Edna Lofton.

He was a slasher operator and a U.S. Army veteran of World WarII. He was a member of Greenlaw Baptist Church and the VFW.

Preceding him in death were his parents and two sisters, MyrtieMagee Cole and Allie Lofton.

Survivors are his wife, Alice Lofton of Kentwood; sons anddaughters-in-law, Austin Jr. and Priscilla Ott Lofton of Osyka,Billy and Pat Gaspard Lofton of New Caney, Texas, and Troy andDeborah Forrest Lofton of Kentwood; daughters and son-in-law, FayeLofton of Kentwood and Brenda and Dr. Donald J. Perrere of GrandIsle, La.; brothers, Ed Lofton of Brookhaven, Larry Lofton ofCrossett, Ark., and Aaron Lofton of Brookhaven; sisters, LucilleWatts of McComb, Ruth Hagee of Amarillo, Texas, Eva Riggs ofSeattle, Wash., Ruby Cantrell of San Antonio and Bessie Garno ofBrookhaven; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
