Services for G. W. Smith of Bogue Chitto are 2 p.m. Monday, Jan.14, at Calvary Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery.Ministers conducting the services will be the Rev. Hal Hatten, theRev. David Millican, and the Rev. Bob Lynch. Brookhaven FuneralHome is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Smith, 82, died Jan. 12, 2002, at King’s Daughters MedicalCenter. He was born in Bogue Chitto on Feb. 22, 1919, to Acy J. andLizzie Gatlin Smith.

He was a retired Baptist minister who had pastored churches inMississippi for nearly 50 years. He was a member of Calvary BaptistChurch. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

Preceding him in death were his parents.

Survivors are his wife, Lottie B. Smith of Bogue Chitto; hisson, Greg Smith of Bogue Chitto; his daughter and son-in-law,Janell and Kenny White of Columbia; his sisters, Ruby Lee Corban ofBaker, La., and Faye Wright of Baton Rouge, La.; his grandchildren,Kenyon Greer, Bradley White, Kristen White, Susan Dobson andShannon Nunnery; four great-grandchildren and a host of nieces andnephews.
