BA chops down Oak Forest

Ancy Myers collected 14 points and 8 rebounds in leading theBrookhaven Academy Lady Cougars to a 46-34 Tuesday night victoryover the visiting Oak Forest Academy Lady Yellow Jackets. The LadyCougars raised their record to 19-1 overall and 4-0 in District4-AA play.

In the varsity boys game, center Paul Coker scored 17 points andblocked 5 shots in leading the Cougars to a hard-fought, 47-43 winover the Yellow Jackets.

The Cougars (15-2, 4-0) got 8 rebounds from Chase Magee as theybattled Oak Forest to a 27-27 halftime deadlock. The Cougars got 4assists from Jimmy Latham and Jonahtan Watts. Watts also had 4steals.

Dylan Chapman led Oak Forest and all scorers with 18 points.

The Lady Cougars, coached by Barry Gray, led Oak Forest 31-15 athalftime as Lauren Smith made 3 steals. Center Anna Gatlin had 9points and 6 rebounds for the Lady Cougars. Leah Davis and KelliByrd each had 5 rebounds. Byrd made 4 assists.

Oak Forest was led by Kirby Smith’s 11 points.

Junior High Results

The Brookhaven Academy girls romped to a 38-9 victory in juniorhigh action, led by Emily Langley and Michelle Thibodeaux with 8points. Thibodeaux also had 6 rebounds. Anna C. Moak scored 6points.

Four points by Elizabeth Lee led Oak Forest.
