LCHS girls nip Raymond

MONTICELLO – The Lawrence County Lady Cougars handed the RaymondLady Rangers a tough 57-52 Division 6-4A loss Friday night, poweredby guard Brittany Peyton who pumped in 20 points and grabbed 10rebounds for the winners.

In the varsity boys game, Deric Anderson’s game-high 22 pointssparked the Rangers to a 63-54 victory.

Lawrence County resumes play Tuesday at Prentiss. The Cougarsplay their last home game Friday versus South Pike

The Lady Cougars got additional support in the win with 14points and 14 rebounds coming from Jasmine Lewis. Stacy Smithfinished with 13 points and four rebounds.

Marquissa Mack had 17 points for Raymond. Almamiya Marshallfinished with 15 points.

Lawrence was 10 of 17 from the free throw line and Raymond went19 for 33.

The Cougars got 12 points from Bryant Wells and Eskria Rhodes.They were led on the backboards by Wells and Edward Mikell who eachhad 5 rebounds. Dexter Haynes had 5 assists as the Cougars battledto a 28-28 halftime knot.
