Lady Wolves triumph; C-L men fall to Jones

ELLISVILLE – Freshman playmaker Tiania Burns pumped in 31 pointsMonday night, leading the Co-Lin Lady Wolves to an 81-51 trouncingof the Jones County Junior College Lady Bobcats. Burns also had 3assists and 3 steals as Co-Lin improved its record to 18-2overall.

In the men’s game, Jones County jumped on Co-Lin for an 84-73triumph. The Bobcats were powered by Rasshun Walters with 19points. The 6-foot-7 freshman also had 7 rebounds and 3 steals.

Co-Lin concludes regular-season play Thursday night, hosting theSouthwest Community College Bears for a South Divisiondoubleheader. The women’s game tips off at 6 p.m. in MullenGymnasium.

The Lady Wolves, 9-2 in the South Division, got 11 points fromLindsay Altman and 10 from Christy Brown. Brown also had 7rebounds.

Jones, coached by Sandra Sumrall, fell to 8-13 on theseason.

The Wolves (7-14, 4-7) got a team-high 14 points plus 8 reboundsfrom sophomore center Quentin Christian. Guard Bruce Smith added 11points 3 assists and 2 steals.

The Bobcats (12-9, 6-5) outscored Co-Lin 36-35 in the secondhalf. They had taken a 10-point, 48-38 lead at halftime.
