Services for Sarah Jane Coleman of Brookhaven are noon Tuesday,Feb. 26, at New Hope M.B. Church with burial in the churchcemetery.

Tyler Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Coleman, 87, died Thursday, Feb. 21, 2002, at herresidence. She was born in Copiah County on March 1, 1914, toAnderson Reed and Florianna Freeman.

She was a homemaker. She was a member of New Hope M.B. Church,where she served in the choir, on the Mission’s and Mother’s boardsand taught Sunday School.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, JohnnyColeman; her son, Ira Coleman; her brothers, Charles Winston andWillie Winston; and her sisters, Katty Dickey, Syrintha Littleton,Lizzie Thompson, Ella Winston and Louanna Tillman.

Survivors are her daughter, Anna Lee Sterling of Brookhaven; hergrandchildren, Phyllis Watkins, Victor Sterling Jr., the Rev.Phillip Sterling, Donald Sterling, Ernest Demond Sterling, JohnnyMelvin Coleman and Gerald T. Coleman, all of Brookhaven, and SarahAnnell Willis of Las Vegas; 17 great-grandchildren; and a host ofnieces and nephews. The family honors the children of the lateHenry Newman Sr. and Lula Mae Newman as a part of her family.
