Lawrence County whipped Brookhaven’s Lady Panthers 12-3 Mondayin a fastpitch softball contest. Winning pitcher Ashley Davisstruck out 13 batters,walked 1 and hit 1 batter.

Two doubles by Davis led the Lady Cougars in batting. GinaMcCloud singled twice. Amanda Givens and Dawn Rushing alsosingled.

Mandy Vinson was the losing pitcher. She walked 11 batters,fanned 3 and hit 4.

At the plate, Ginny Dunaway tripled and singled for Brookhaven.Chuvaqua Smith doubled and singled. Cortney Fielder doubled andAshley Sykes singled.

In the JV game, Brookhaven beat Lawrence County 10-0. AshleySykes (4-1) pitched the victory.

A homer by Brittany Smith led Brookhaven in batting. Sykestripled. Collecting singles were Allyson Wallace, Kayla Prince,Cortney Fielder and Megan Bateman.

Brookhaven, coached by Lisa Covington, resumes play Thursday atthe Sports Complex, hosting McComb.
