Services for Cannon L. “Jewel” Alexander of Bogue Chitto are 10a.m., Saturday, April 27, at Arlington Baptist Church with burialin the church cemetery.

Visitation is Friday from 5-9 p.m. at Hartman Funeral Home inMcComb and Saturday from 9-10 a.m. at the church.

Mr. Alexander, 80, died April 24, 2002, at his residence. He wasborn in Jayess on July 19, 1921, to Adron and Bessie RaybornAlexander.

He was retired from the knitting department of Kellwood Companyin McComb with 25 years service. He had worked with Freeport SulferOil Company for 13 years. He was a member of the Baptist faith andattended Arlington Baptist Church. He was a Navy veteran of WWII,serving in the Pacific Theatre. He loved gardening and fishing.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and his sister, ClytieBrister.

Survivors are his wife of 42 years, Laura B. Alexander of BogueChitto; his sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth R. Alexander andDana of Brookhaven, and Andy Lee Alexander Johnson and Brenda ofPelahatchie; his daughter and son-in-law, Sandra J. Smith andDarrell L. of Bogue Chitto; his brother and sister-in-law, DevonAlexander and Mary of McComb; his sister and brother-in-law, GladysMatthews and Charles of Pricedale; his grandsons, Matthew DanielAlexander of Brookhaven and Eddie Johnson; and twogreat-grandchildren and five nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to Horizon Hospice.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Case, Bobby Matthews, Doyle Brister,Doyle Rayborn, Jerry Rayborn, and W. T. Rayborn. Honorarypallbearers will be George Porter, Paul Fern, Joe Brumfield, EdBrumfield, and Hulon Brown.
