This area — especially its young people — lost a friend lastweek.

Hansel King served this community as Superintendent ofBrookhaven Parks and Recreation for 36 years. We can only imaginethe number of children who benefited from his work in those manyyears.

Mr. King’s service did not stop at the end of the working day, either. He also volunteered his time to coach pee wee football andlittle league baseball. He was an active member of EasthavenBaptist Church.

Hansel King will be missed by many in this community, but heleaves a great legacy. When you hear the sound of the bat strikingthe ball, the applause of the crowd or the laughter of a child atthe sports complex, think of all he did to make that possible.
