Services for Mrytle S. Hancock of McComb are 10 a.m., Saturday,June 15, at Hartman Funeral Home Chapel with burial in ArlingtonCemetery. The Rev. Bruce A. McKenzie and the Rev. Bob Lynch willconduct the services.

Visitation is today from 5-9 p.m. and Saturday from 8-10 a.m. atthe funeral home.

Mrs. Hancock, 74, died June 13, 2002, at University MedicalCenter in Jackson. She was born in Pattison on July 8, 1927, toHoward Sanders and Bertie Sally Thedford Sanders.

She retired in 1987 as a telephone operator with Bell South withover 25 years of service. She was a member of Telephone Pioneers ofAmerica. She was a member of Arlington Baptist Church. She wasactive with the Joymakers, volunteered for Food Share, and was avolunteer for the annual Tour-for-Cure which benefits the MultipleSclerosis Foundation. Her family remembers her as being the lightof many people; she touched the lives of many people.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her grandson, RobertSmith; and her son-in-law, Jerry Lamar Chapman Sr.

Survivors are her husband, Dewey Vernon Hancock of McComb; herdaughters, Helen Smith and husband Walter of Tylertown, Carol G.Chapman of Summit, Charlotte “Shug” Phillips of Mandeville, La.,Nita McKenzie and husband Gerald of Bogue Chitto, and Joy Steele ofSmithdale; her grandchildren, Rickey Lee, Larissa Jacobsen, JasonLee, John Smith, Penny Genusa, Susan Dixon, Sharon Hingle, LamarChapman, Thomas Chapman, Hank Chapman, Crystal Phillips, DanMcKenzie, the Rev. Bruce A. McKenzie, and Kristen McKenzie; 22great-grandchildren; and special friends Jimmy and Shirley Carltonand Jimmie Lee Thornton, all of McComb, and Florence and ClaireWillingham of Centreville.

Memorials may be made to a charity of choice.
