Services for Hiram C. Newman of Wesson were 11 a.m., Monday,July 15, at Wesson Baptist Church with burial in Wesson Cemetery.Stringer Funeral Home in Hazlehurst was in charge ofarrangements.

Mr. Newman, 84, died July 13, 2002, at his residence.

He was owner and operator of Hazle Motor Company for 53 years.He was a member of Wesson Baptist Church, where he served as anusher. He was an Army veteran of WWII, serving from 1941-45. He wasan honorary deputy in Copiah County. He was a member of the LionsClub.

Survivors are his wife, Beatrice Newman; his sons, Hiram NewmanJr. and Kenneth Newman, both of Wesson; his daughter, DarleneNations of Wesson; his brothers, Frank Newman of Baton Rouge,Wilmer Newman of Wesson, and David Newman and Grady Newman, both ofHazlehurst; his sisters, Bea Price of Mobile, Mildred Ferguson ofBaton Rouge, and Mary Jeffiron of Plaquemine; and 15 grandchildrenand 12 great-grandchildren.
