‘Catch-A-Dream’ featured on TV

Brookhaven’s Catch-A-Dream charitable organization will befeatured in a half-hour special of “Hunting The County” on TNN thisweekend.
Residents here can catch the show on cable Saturday at 11 a.m.or Sunday at 10:30 a.m.
The first 15 minutes of the show will highlight theCatch-A-Dream Celebrity Gold Tournament at Old Waverly Golf Club inWest Point. The event was held May 6-7 and sponsored by Mossy Oak.It was hosted by Tracy Byrd.
Several of the seriously ill children helped by Catch-A-Dreamattended the tournament and Ashley May, who was part of a hunt atGeorgia-Pacific in Monticello recently, got to chauffeur Byrd’sgolf cart.
The second half of the show will feature a hunt made this Springwith 10-year-old Ryan Welch of Florida in Central Texas. Welch’swish was to go turkey hunting and he got a “very nice” gobbler. TheMossy Oak company was also instrumental in this event.
Catch-A-Dream offers outdoor adventures for seriously illchildren, some terminal, to complete the child’s wish.
It was the vision of Brookhaven native Bruce Brady, who died ofcancer in 2000, and his vision still holds sway today, even thoughthe organization now operates at the national level.
Brady’s wife, Peggy, and son, Bruce Jr., both of Brookhaven,serve on the organization’s board of directors, as doesBrookhavenite Jimmy Bullock.
This is not the first time Catch-A-Dream has been featured on”Hunting The Country,” according to Peggy, but it is the first timethe entire show has been devoted to the organization.
“To get the whole show is just fantastic,” Peggy said. “Youcan’t do any more to get the word out. It’s exciting. When you seethe video you are going to love it.”
Mossy Oak was an early supporter of Catch-A-Dream and continuesto promote and participate in its hunts.
This month, Tony Kinney, 16, of Pennsylvania, who has a braintumor, will hunt caribou, black bear and wolves in Alaska. MossyOak is also sending a camera team on this hunt for a future”Hunting The Country” episode.
“They have really gotten the vision and jumped on board to helpthe program,” Peggy said. “The first time they heard about it theywanted to be a part of it.”
