Services for Lester P. McDavid of Brookhaven are 11 a.m.,Thursday, Aug. 22, at Brookhaven Funeral Home Chapel with burial inHolly Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation is today from 4-9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. McDavid, 72, died Aug. 20, 2002, at the V.A. Medical Centerin Jackson. He was born in Lincoln County on June 8, 1930, to JohnW. McDavid and Bertha Smith McDavid.

He was retired after 22 years in the U. S. Army. He was a memberof Holly Springs Baptist Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents.

Survivors are his wife, Virginia McDavid of Brookhaven; hissons, Les McDavid and Randall McDavid, both of Brookhaven; hisbrothers, John McDavid of Gonzales, La., Charles McDavid ofBaltimore, Md., and Lafayette McDavid and Phillip McDavid, both ofBrookhaven; his sisters, Martha Gill and Jorinne Hutcherson, bothof Brookhaven; and eight grandchildren and fivegreat-grandchildren.
