Services for Joseph Thomas “J. T.” Lofton of Bogue Chitto are 11a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 27, at Calvary Baptist Church with burial inthe church cemetery.

Visitation is today from 5-9 p.m. at Brookhaven Funeral Home andTuesday at the church from 10 a.m. until service time.

Mr. Lofton, 79, died Aug. 25, 2002, at St. Dominic’s Hospital.He was born in Lincoln County on March 10, 1923, to Zach Lofton andHaisy Moak Lofton.

He was a retired auto mechanic. He was a member of CalvaryBaptist Church. He was an Army veteran, serving in Iwo Jima.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and his sister, AmolineLofton.

Survivors are his wife, Ruby Lofton of Bogue Chitto; his son,Jack Lofton of Taylorsville; his daughter, Barbara Pepper of BogueChitto; his brothers, James Lofton of Bogue Chitto, Mike Lofton ofBaton Rouge, and the Rev. Pat Lofton of Epps, La.; his sisters,Irene Brister of Brookhaven, Shirley Whittington of McComb, AgnesForeman of Jacksonville, Texas, Peggy Impson of Mt. View, Ark., andBrenda Tasselli of Loveland, Colo.; his grandchildren, CandisHelms, Nikki Lofton, Will Pepper, and Sawyer Pepper; and a host ofnieces and nephews.
