Lady Panthers win 2 in Clinton tournament

CLINTON – The Brookhaven Lady Panthers defeated Clinton 14-13and Northwest Rankin 14-9 in the Clinton Tournament and lost toCleveland 11-5. The Lady Panthers, coached by Lisa Covington, are8-4 overall and 1-0 Division 6-4A play after beating McComb12-1.
Brookhaven 14, NW Rankin 9
Mandy Vinson was the winning pitcher and the pitcher of recordin all three tournament games.
Against Northwest Rankin, the Lady Panthers were powered byBrittany Smith who singled twice, doubled and tripled. ChuvaquahSmith doubled twice and singled. Megan Bateman and JaRonda Mooreboth singled twice and tripled. Cortney Fielder and Kala Prince had3 singles apiece. Allyson Wallace and Samantha Boutwell doubled andsingled.
Ashley Sykes doubled. Vinson singled twice.
Cleveland 11, Brookhaven 5
Sykes tripled and singled in the loss to Cleveland. Two singleswere collected by Vinson, Brittany Smith, Prince and Boutwell.
Brookhaven 14, Clinton 13
Moore homered and singled as the Lady Panthers beat Clinton.Sykes had 2 doubles. Boutwell tripled and singled. Chuvaquah Smithsingled twice and doubled. Two singles were contributed by BrittanySmith and Sykes.
Brookhaven 12, McComb 1
Chuvaqua Smith homered and singled in the win over McComb.Prince doubled and singled. Moore tripled. Fielder singled twice.Bateman and Vinson doubled. Vinson was the winning pitcher.
In the JV game, Brookhaven beat McComb 16-0 as Prince singledtwice. Kelly Vinson, Alesha Irvin, Lauren Smith, Portia Dickey, andChristi Martin singled.
