Rains force softball title cancellation

SUMMIT – The North Pike Tournament championship game between theBogue Chitto Lady Bobcats and the Enterprise Lady Yellow Jacketswas canceled due to heavy rains Saturday. The teams were tied at2-all in the sixth inning. The Lady Bobcats had two runners on baseand no outs when the game was canceled because of rain.

Other teams participating in the tourney were Brookhaven, WestLincoln and Wesson.

Earlier in the tourney, Bogue Chitto nipped West Lincoln 5-4,bounced Wesson 11-2 and fell to Brookhaven 4-3. Kia Porter pitchedthe tournament for Bogue Chitto.

Host North Pike fell to Enterprise 4-2 and West Lincoln 8-3.Bogue Chitto and North Pike provided its own statistics.Information on the other teams was unavailable at press time.

In the championship game, Amanda Wallace and Candace Braxton ledBogue Chitto with two singles apiece. Karen Wallace, JessicaMelton, Marley Porter and Kia Porter singled.

Bogue Chitto 5, West Lincoln 4

Powering the Lady Bobcats to the win with a double and a singlewas Kia Porter. Collecting two singles apiece were LaSandra Smith,Melton and Braxton. Marley Porter, Randi Moak, Amber Maldonado andAmanda Wallace hit safely.

Bogue Chitto 11, Wesson 2

Bogue Chitto got a double and a single from Amanda Wallace.Tripling was Braxton. Melton, Kia Porter, Maldonado and WendyFairchild ripped two singles apiece. Singling were Marley Porter,Moak, Brown, Haley Roberts, Brynna Wallace and Karen Wallace.

Brookhaven 4, Bogue Chitto 3

In Bogue Chitto’s only loss, Stanci Long and Kia Porter led witha pair of singles each. Marley Porter, Melton, Moak, Brown andAmanda Wallace singled.

Enterprise 4, North Pike 2

The host Lady Jaguars got three singles from Brittney Alexander.Leonna Ballard and Danielle Rawls collected two singles apiece.Heather Williamson singled. Jenna Dickerson was the losing pitcherin both games.

West Lincoln 8, North Pike 3

Ripping three singles for North Pike was Ballard. Rawls andBrittney Alexander collected two singles apiece. Erin Boyd, HeatherAlexander and Williamson singled.

Bogue Chitto visits Enterprise tonight for division action. Thejunior varsity game begins at 6 p.m. followed by the varsity at7.
