Bogue Chitto wins pool in Brookhaven tourney

The Bogue Chitto Lady Bobcats captured their pool in theBrookhaven Tournament Saturday at the Hansel King Sports Complex.Pearl and North Pike also won their respective pools.

Host Brookhaven lost 12-3 to Bogue Chitto in the opener, whippedNatchez Cathedral 21-0 in the second game and lost to Poplarville9-3 in the third game. Mandy Vinson went 1-2 in the tourney aspitcher for the Lady Panthers.

In the Lady Panthers’ first game, Mandy Vinson led with a homerun. Chuvaquah Smith and Brittany Smith collected a double apiece.Ashley Sykes, Allyson Wallace and Cortney Fielder singled.

Powering Bogue Chitto to the win with an inside-the-park homerun and two singles was Randi Moak. Meleah Brown and Jessica Meltoncollected three singles apiece. Amber Maldonado and Karen Wallaceripped two singles apiece. Following with a single each were MarleyPorter and Candace Braxton.

Brookhaven 21, Cathedral 0

In the second game, JaRonda Moore led Brookhaven with a homerun, a double and a single. Ripping a homer and a triple wasVinson. Sykes tripled and singled twice. Hitting a double and twosingles was Chuvaquah Smith.

Three singles were belted for Brookhaven by Fielder and BrittanySmith. Kensy Hoff doubled and singled. Ripping two singles apiecewere Samantha Boutwell and Megan Bateman. Wallace, Kayla Prince andLaura Waldrop hit safely.

Poplarville 9, Brookhaven 3

Moore doubled and singled twice for the Lady Panthers in thefinal game. Bateman singled twice. Collecting a single wereChuvaquah Smith, Sykes, Brittany Smith, Vinson and Fielder.

Bogue Chitto 4, Poplarville 3

In the second game for the Lady Bobcats, Braxton scored thewinning run in the bottom of the seventh inning. Moak led with atriple and a single. Melton and Braxton tripled. A pair of singleswere hit by Maldonado. Amanda Wallace and Karen Wallace hitsafely.
