Services for George Turnage Jr. of Brookhaven are 11 a.m.,Friday, Nov. 1, at Crooked Creek Baptist Church in Lawrence Countywith burial in Cliburn Cemetery in Lawrence County.
Visitation is Thursday from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. and Friday from9 a.m. until service time at the church. Brookhaven Funeral Home isin charge of arrangements.
Mr. Turnage, 72, died Oct. 29, 2002, at King’s Daughters MedicalCenter. He was born in Copiah County on March 7, 1930, to GeorgeCurtis Turnage Sr. and Malinda Elizabeth Turnage Bryant.
He was employed with the Veterans Service Office in LawrenceCounty. He was retired from the Welfare Department. He was aretired Baptist minister. He was a member of Crooked Creek BaptistChurch. He was past master of Silver Creek Masonic Lodge. He waspost commander of the V.F.W. of Monticello. He was an Air Forceveteran of the Korean War.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his stepfather, WillieRay Bryant; and his wife, I. D. Daughdrill Turnage.
Survivors are his wife, Ella Mae Turnage of Brookhaven; his sonand daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Lori E. Turnage of Plant City,Fla.; his stepson, Kenneth Tillman of Monticello; his brothers,Dewey Turnage of Long Beach, Carroll Turnage and Gerald Turnage,both of Oakvale, and Wayne Turnage of Monticello; his sisters,LaNelle Graham of Baker City, Ore., Irene Stamps of Oakvale, andLouise Smith of The Dalles, Ore.; and his grandchildren, JessicaTurnage, Nick Collins, Ashley Collins, and Jill Spence.
