Recent autopsy results show that electrocution was the cause ofthe unexplained death of a Brookhaven man found Oct. 26 justoutside the city limits, according to authorities.
Lincoln County Coroner-Medical Examiner Clay McMorris reportedFriday that autopsy results showed Paul Reid, 80, died ofelectrocution probably from the electric fence on his property onMonticello Street.
“It was raining that day. He could have just touched it (thefence) wrong and it grounded him and caused electrocution,” saidMcMorris.
Reid was found Saturday afternoon lying beside the electricfence, which had several hot wires, said McMorris.
“Someone who rented from him found him,” he said.
The death was not ruled an electrocution from the start becausethere was no evidence of a large amount of electricity exiting thebody, said McMorris, but the autopsy found electrocution to be thecause of death.
Reid was believed to have died just a few hours before his bodywas discovered. He was pronounced dead Saturday, Oct. 26, at 3:30p.m, McMorris said.
