Services for Elouise Howe Pell of Wesson are 11 a.m., Wednesday,Nov. 6, at Strong Hope Baptist Church with burial in the churchcemetery.

Visitation is today from 5-8 p.m. at Stringer Funeral Home inHazlehurst.

Mrs. Pell, 82, died Nov. 3, 2002, at her residence.

During World War II, she worked as a certified welder, buildingLiberty ships for Kaiser Shipyards of Oakland, CA. She later workedas a beautician for a number of years. She had lived in PortGibson; Victoria, Texas; and Augusta, Ga., before retiring to theStrong Hope Community in 1984.

She was a member of Strong Hope Baptist Church, where she was amember of the senior adult Sunday school class and activelysupported church ministries. She was a member of the Order of theEastern Star for more than 55 years, and served five times asWorthy Matron of the Wesson William Oliver Chapter 176. She alsoserved as the grand representative of the Grand Chapter of theEastern Star of Mississippi.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Fred S. and Gertrude B.Howe; her brothers, Homer Dewey Howe, Leland Henry Howe, FloydRoosevelt Howe and Theodore Frederick Howe; and her sisters, LucyIrene Howe and Dorothy Howe Wheat.

Survivors are her husband of 57 years, Otis James Pell; herdaughter, Susan Pell Poole of Grimesland, N.C.; her son, DavidCharles Pell of Forest; her sisters, Hazel Cornwell of Sidney,N.Y., and Gertrude Barnes of San Jose, Ca.; and two grandchildren;and 38 nieces and nephews.
