Services for Jean Wood Becker Scofield of Palm Desert, Calif.,are 2 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 16, at First United Methodist Churchwith burial in Rose Hill Cemetery. Services will be conducted bythe Rev. Thomas Hollowell. A memorial service was held Nov. 9 atPalm Desert Community Presbyterian Church.

Visitation is Friday from 4-6 p.m. at the Wood family home at603 Natchez Road and Saturday from 12:30-1:30 p.m. at HarrigillFuneral Home.

Mrs. Scofield, 85, died Nov. 5, 2002, at her residence. She wasborn in Brookhaven on Oct. 8, 1917, to John Meredith Wood and RenaJones Wood.

She was a homemaker. She was a member of the LSU Alumni, KappaDelta, Palm Desert Panhellenic Council, National Charity League,Garden Club of the Desert, and Las Madracitas. She was a member ofPalm Desert Community Presbyterian Church.

Preceding her in death were her parents; and her husband, EarleScofield.

Survivors are her daughters, Mimi Scofield-Frengs of PalosVerdes Estates, Calif., and Dorothy Scofield-Hughes of Medfield,Mass.; and her grandchildren, Kathryn Elizabeth Frengs, MeredithJean Frengs, Peter Joseph Frengs, Jonathan Scofield Hughes andClaire Marie Hughes.

Pallbearers will be Tommy Abernathy, Andrew Boyd, Mike Boyd,John Davis, Omer Davis, Dr. Robert Schmieg, Homer “Beau”Whittington Jr., and August Zetler.
