Services for Betty Jane Porter Hallberg of Vicksburg were heldNov. 8 at Riles Funeral Home with burial in Cedar HillCemetery.

Mrs. Hallberg, 61, died Nov. 8, 2002, of cancer at herresidence. She was born on Jan. 12, 1941, to The Rev. PhiefferPorter and Myrtis Porter. While living in Brookhaven, she attendedHeuck’s Retreat Baptist Church, Heuck’s Retreat School, Co-LinJunior College, and Mississippi College. She held the title of MissBrookhaven in 1959, and went on to win Miss Mississippi later thatyear.

She was a retired florist owner and floral designer. She was amember of First Baptist Church in Vicksburg.

Preceding her in death were her parents.

Survivors are her husband of 40 years, William “Buddy” Hallbergof Vicksburg; her sons, Bill Hallberg of Vicksburg and MilesHallberg of Spartanburg, S.C.; her sister, Mary Lynn Lynch ofVicksburg; and two grandchildren, one niece and one nephew.
