Lady Panthers drop 2 in New Orleans

NEW ORLEANS – Showing some improvement Saturday, the BrookhavenLady Panthers lost to John Ehret of New Orleans in the second roundof the Shake & Bake Classic. In Friday’s opening round, Minden(La.) beat the Lady Panthers 54-30.
Brookhaven plays again today at 5 p.m., in the tournament at thePonchatrain Center.
The Lady Panthers (8-8) wereled by center Ayana Tillman’s 12 points.
“Today’s effort was better than yesterday,” said BHS coach BillyHolmes. “We still have a ways to go.”
The Lady Patriots (11-8)trailed Brookhaven 21-17 at halftime.They used a 19-point third quarter explosion to overwhelmBrookhaven.
Minden 54, Brookhaven 30
Minden (16-2) led 31-14 at halftime. The Lady Tigers were led byguard Shan Moore’s 20 points. She also had 9 rebounds and 6 assistsfor the Lady Tigers.
“We didn’t come out with the intensity we needed,” said CoachHolmes. “We didn’t shoot the ball well.”
