Memorial services for James William “Jimmy” Smith of San Diego,Calif., are 4 p.m., Friday, Jan. 3, at Featherings Hill Mortuary inSan Diego. A graveside memorial service will be held at a laterdate at Hollywood Cemetery in McComb.

Mr. Smith, 72, died Dec. 28, 2002. He was born in Lincoln Countyon March 6, 1930, to Perry and Winnie Reed Smith. He was thestepson of Ruth Farnham Smith.

He was retired from the Frito-Lay Company. He was a member ofthe Baptist faith. He served as a medical corpsman in the Navy.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Nancy; hisbrothers, Charles Perry, Maylon, and Perry; and his sister, PeraLynn.

Survivors are his sons, James William Smith Jr. of San Diego,Danny Joe Smith of Auburn, Calif., and Perry Lee Smith of Santee,Calif.; his brothers, James H. Smith of McComb and Thomas A. Smithof Summit; his sisters, Irene O’Neal of McComb, Bonita LeJeune ofBaton Rouge, Barbara Hux of Bogue Chitto, and Bonnie Budd ofIrving, Texas; and eight grandchildren and fivegreat-grandchildren.
