Services for Wendell O. Montgomery of Brookhaven are 2 p.m.,Sunday, Jan. 5, at Brookhaven Funeral Home Chapel with burial inGum Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation is Saturday from 5-9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Montgomery, 69, died Jan. 2, 2003, at King’s DaughtersMedical Center. He was born in Freeport, Texas, on Jan. 19, 1933,to W. O. Montgomery and Floy Parsons Montgomery.

He was a retired painter. He was noted for his kind heart andspirit. He was a member of the Baptist faith. He served in the Armyin the Korean Conflict.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and his brothers,Demille and Ronald Montgomery.

Survivors are his son, Wendell Montgomery Jr. of Clifton Forge,Va.; his daughter, Shelia Staggs of Clifton Forge; his brothers,Ronnie Montgomery of Waskom, Texas, Woody Montgomery of Smithdale,and Reginald Montgomery of Memphis; his sisters, Melba Obrien ofMemphis and Glenda Tarver of Brookhaven; and six grandchildren andtwo great-grandchildren.
